It also includes functionality from the recently released Cubase 5.5, which means that Nuendo and Cubase finally have a kind of feature parity once again. In addition to providing Nuendo updates, Steinberg also introduced a major new version of Cubase at the beginning of 2009. And although three years have passed since the last major release of Nuendo, Steinberg have made available numerous incremental updates in the intervening time that have added both functionality and support for new hardware. After some brief sibling rivalry with Cubase during the troubling twos, where Nuendo struggled to forge its own identity, the application's focus started to become clearer with the release of version 3 in 2005 and, particularly, version 4 in 2007.
